Slightly Gypsy
Confused

She stood near the railing and looked outside. It was dark already and cold wind slapped her cheeks. But it didnt feel much. Not against the warm water which was making her vision fuzzy. Was she crying? She isnt supposed to…everything is going fine…everything is just wonderful. Something broke inside her. She was getting married. Married to the guy whom she loved and adored since so may years. Then why is she sullen today. Quietly she peered outside. The little lights twinkled from a distance. It was as if someone had strewn a million stars of different colours. As she put her hand inside her coat, a packet a half eaten chocolate felt sticky inside. She remembered her mother’s scolding about the same.

And she cried. Cried like she has never cried…Like a confused child…Like an unsure grown up. She didn’t want to grow up. She did not want to leave the cocoon of her home. She loved her boyfriend and adored him. But how will she replace her father and mothers’ presence, their scolding’s, their reprimands, their curfew of 9 O’clock, their checks of her sleeping on time, their getting irritated when her room is dirty….Why was she suddenly scared of losing things she very much hated…. She cried.

Someone told her now her parents will lose their rights on her. She is supposed to go to a new home and take them as her new family. She had looked up and said why cant I have two families. To which they told her, that’s not the norm. Her husband’s home is her’s now…this was all too confusing. Why is she hurting so much on this? This should be normal. Everygirl does this…

She gulped a sip of water from her bottle and wiped her tears. This is all too foolish. She is supposed to be more responsible now and behave like a mature woman….a lady. She looked at her toes and noticed how the nail polish from her engagement was chipped. She got lost in some random thoughts when her phone rang. It was him. Her phone was vibrating but before she could take the call it got cut. 5 missed calls. Shit! He was trying since so long. She ought to call back but then she remembered there was no balance. How should she call back. Is he worried? Is there anything urgent? Why did he call 5 times?

The call came again and his name flashed on the screen. She answered immediately to which his first question was…”Are you fine? Why aint you picking the call? I got worried…”

Just as a shivering man feels better when he is placed before fire….she felt a rush of calmness upon hearing him. “I…I…am ..f..ffine. Just that it is very cold here…Love you…and what took you so long to call silly?”…as their conversation continued, a smile was building on her lips and the colour on her cheeks came back….and she walked towards her destination….
